Mini Essie Nail Polish Haul

Essie is a brand of nail polish I've seen around the blogging and YouTube World but never purchased from because I'm terrible with nail polish and it tends to chip within the hour, however I got an Essie nail polish for Christmas (which is the red one, I just wanted to include it in the haul because that one made me want them all!) and as soon as I started putting it on I was like oh my god I'm in love I need more of these. But because I didn't want to spend £8 on just ONE nail polish I had a browse around and managed to get a couple from Superdrug for just £3.99. Yep. £3.99. I really wanted a light pink shade for my nails because normally I just paint them black so I'm trying to add more colour to my nails as well, and I found one I liked at £7.99 but then I came across a few for £3.99 and I fell in love and I couldn't not buy them. I ended up purchasing 3 of the more light/nude shades and they were: Just Stitched (can't find the link but here's similar), Wrap Me Up and All Eyes on Nudes (can't find the link again but another similar here) the one I received for Christmas was Fishnet Stockings

I'm so excited to use these nail polishes and I feel like Essie have already knocked my love for Barry M down to the number 2 spot and Essie has taken the top spot. I can see why people pay more for them because they do last longer than other nail polishes I've tried and knowing me if I fall in love with a shade ill probably buy it when it's £7.99 because well...they're just too pretty!

Sukin Skincare

As you all probably know by now I'm alwaaayysss on the lookout for some good skincare for my oh so troublesome skin, the products I've been trying out recently are these from the Sukin Skincare range, these products are all natural ingredients including Kale, Jojoba Beads, Bamboo, Acocado and more!

The first product is the Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub which doesn't actually advise you on how often you're supposed to use it so I've just been putting it on once a day in the evenings and my skin feels so soft and cleansed after I've used this, it's definitely helped with my dry skin but I just love how nice my skin feels after using it. I've been using it in conjunction with the Sukin Super Greens Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser, I use those two together at night time and then just the moisturiser again in the morning and my skin always feels so soft after using them, the moisturiser really sinks into your skin and dries really quickly and your face doesn't feel tacky at all, the only problem is I don't think it's as strong as I need for my dry skin which is terrible in the Winter, I think this would work best with their night cream that they have available in this range. I think those 3 all combined would work really well for keeping your skin soft.

As for the spots side of things, I thought it was really working at keeping my spots away when I first started using it however I think it could be breaking me out, ever since I tried the Purifying Facial Masque from the range my skin hasn't been that good and as I continued using all the products from this range, I felt like it was getting slightly worse, now I don't know if the masque just brought it all out or if it is in fact just the range that seems to not agree with my skin, I haven't been using it lately to see and I'm using my go to Sudocrem to help with the spots and that's really helped them so I'm thinking I might try them again after the breakouts decided to leave my face and see if it comes back when I use the products again.

The Sukin Purifying Facial Masque dries really quickly on the face, the mixture is quite thick and I find you have to rub it in quickly before it dries and you haven't got it everywhere, this facemask definitely makes you look like an oompa loompa though it's orange toned and smells just as nice as the other products, my face felt really clean and fresh afterwards but however as I said I think it made me breakout but I will be testing them again when my skin's cleared up.

Garnier Oil Infused Micellar Water

Okay so my skin was normally quite oily so I stuck to the Micellar Water with the pink lid and absolutely loved that one, but ever since I had the whole breakout spot situation and started using the 3 step blemish kit from La Roche Posay and some tablets and cream from the doctors my skin has been SO dry it's been peeling on and around my nose and it looked SO bad and stung so so much when I used the other Micellar water so I decided to pinch my sisters one and try the one out the Garnier Oil Infused Cleansing Water so it helped keep the moisture in my skin and I think it has definitely done that, I've been using more moisturisers and things (post coming soon) and I think they've all really helped but the other reason I wanted to review this one was because of how well it removed my makeup! The pink one struggled with the waterproof eyeliner and I had to use quite a bit on that but with this one it came off so much quicker I was amazed! I love this one because afterwards my skin feels fresh, hydrated and clean from all of the makeup being removed. I definitely think this is going to take over my love for the other one unless my oily skin comes back but for now, this one is my go to makeup remover.

Makeup Haul

I'm gunna be completely honest here and say that this isn't a most recent makeup haul because I haven't done one but I bought a bunch of makeup towards the end of last year and a few bits this year that I thought I'd pool it all together and do a little haul so here's what I got!

Rimmel Fresher Skin Foundation - I saw this one advertised on the TV and Rimmel are the only brand that have the right pale shade for my skin tone and they were doing a 3 for 2 on feel unique so I decided to try out 3 of their foundations and this one was one I'd been wanting to try out, I haven't really used this much but I think it's going to be good for spring and summer.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - I'm loving this foundation right now, I loved it a while back but completely ditched it for my MAC SF now I've ditched my MAC for this. This keeps your skin looking so nice and dewy and it's actually a really good coverage - not saying too much because I want to do a review on this one .

Rimmel 24hr Nude with Comfort Serum - The last foundation I picked up in the 3 for 2 was the lasting finish, I loved the other lasting finish foundation because it really reminded me of the MAC SF, but I hadn't tried the one with the comfort serum so I figured I'd grab that to give it a go and see what the difference was!

NYX Matte Lip Creams - Everyone was raving about these lip creams so I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased London and Abu Dhabi which are 2 brown nude shades and they're actually really pretty and I do love them, might even prefer them over my MAC lipstick...eeek did I just say that? Yes I did. No turning back now. Besides they're SO much cheaper.

Baby Lips Lips & Blush - Firstly how cute are these?! They're so unusual that I really wanted to grab them to give them a go, I wanted the eos lip balm for a while but then I saw these and they're pretty similar except this have a tiny tint to them and you can use them as blush too!

Baby Lips Valentines Collection - I saw these on boots and since I was loving the baby lips I decided to pick up the both of these in the collection, they're so adorable and they even have a little heart on the top of the lip balm itself. CUTE.

Barry M Lip Oil

Lately my lips have seemed to be becoming chapped and rough and just not nice luscious looking lips that's for sure but to be honest I'm a bit bad with keeping up with wearing a good lip balm to help them out. I've been wanting to try out the Clarins Lip Oil but decided to go for a cheaper alternative which is the Lip Oil from Barry M

I've been using this lip oil rather than using any lipstick because all I normally wear is a matte lipstick which I don't think has really helped my lips to be honest and I wasn't loving how they looked so I ditched ALL my lipsticks and turned to a lip oil instead, I love the whole bit of a smokey eye and nude lip look so that's what I've been going for.

When I first used this I really liked how it looked, my lips were just a natural shade with a sheer gloss over them and at first they felt really hydrated but (you knew that was coming didn't you?) it didn't last long at all! Like within about half an hour or less the product was off my lips and they were back to looking chapped and dry BOOO! I was hoping that even when it did come off that they'd still feel nice and hydrated and look okay but nope, that did not happen, it came off and that was that, they didn't look any better so I'm super gutted about this one!

Heart Shaped GF Rice Pops Treats

Oh what's this? Another baking post? Yep. Totally keeping up with my goals and baking more, I've been wanting Rice Krispie treats for ages so I decided to bake some using Gluten Free Rice Pops and I made them in the shape of hearts. HOW CUTE. I thought they'd be an easy cute lil Valentines Treat to make as well, these were SO easy to make and they were so tasty. I probably ate most of them to be honest. Oops.

I got this recipe from Zoella here but adapted it slightly and by slightly I mean I used 2 bags of the normal sized marshmallows and just poured in a shit load of cereal and went with that but if you prefer to measure everything properly I've added that in for you just because I'm just that nice.

What you'll need:
170g GF Rice Pops
90g Butter
1 Tablespoon Milk

Melt the butter on a low to medium heat and add in a quarter of the marshmallows with a teaspoon of vanilla extract (I forgot that bit oops) and then mix all that up so it looks a bit like a gooey mess but before all the marshmallows are melted add in a tablespoon of milk and then the rest of the marshmallows and stir away until it's really really gooey, take it off the heat before some of the marshmallows are fully melted and then add in the Rice Pops and stir that all in until it's all combined.

Once it's all combined together spread the mixture evenly into a lined baking tray and leave them to set.

Once they're all set, take your heart shaped cookie cutter and as you would do with cutting a shape out of dough do the same for these, I'm not going to lie it takes a bit of effort to push the cookie cutter onto the rice pops because they are solid at this point but once you get started it gets a bit easier! All that's left to do now is to melt your choice of chocolate and sprinkle over the rice pop treats and there you go. Heart Shaped Rice Pop Treats done!

Cute GF Valentines Day Cupcakes

Okay so normally I'm a grumpy ass when it comes to Valentine's Day but this year I've changed my mind and decided to enjoy it instead, you know with my family and pets because no boyfriend over here, total loner but anyway I wanted to bake some cute Valentines Day cupcakes so that's what I went ahead and did, I even bought Pink cupcake cases for the occasion. (Told you I was becoming obsessed with pink)

Okay so firstly I made the chocolate hearts so they'd set when I was making the cupcakes and for this I just used two bars of chocolate, one white and one milk chocolate and I melted both of those into separate bowls and then spooned the chocolate into the heart moulds I have and then I sort of sprinkled the white chocolate over the top so it looked slightly more fancy, then I just popped those into the fridge and moved onto the cupcakes and here's what you need/what I used for these, I got this recipe from my Hummingbird Bakery Book but adapted it for myself so I could use Gluten Free Flour and Dairy Free Products but I've put both on here just in case, also you can make the hearts by using Dairy Free chocolate I did use normal for some but then left the others without the heart so my family could enjoy them minus the Chocolate.

120g Plain Flour - I used Doves Farm GF Plain Flour
140g Caster Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
A pinch of salt
40g Unsalted Butter - I used a dairy free butter
120ml Whole Milk - I used LactoFree Milk
1 Egg
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Put the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and butter all into your bowl and mix that alllll up, until it looks all combined.

Then pour in half of the milk and mix together until combined.

Grab a separate bowl and whisk the egg, vanilla extract and remaining milk into the bowl for a few seconds and then pour into the other mixture and mix together until all the ingredients are combined and you have a nice looking cupcake batter.

All that's left to do for the batter now is to spoon it into your cupcake cases and put into the oven until they're golden and the skewer comes out clean. The time in the book says to leave them bake for 20-25 minutes but I'd just keep an eye on them because my oven tends to cook them quicker than the said time!

After the cupcakes are done leave them to cool and move onto making the yummy chocolate frosting! Here's what you'll need:

300g Icing Sugar
100g Unsalted Butter - I used a dairy free butter
40g Cocoa Powder - I used a dairy free hot chocolate powder
40ml Whole Milk - I used LactoFree Milk

Beat the Icing Sugar, Butter and Cocoa Powder together in an electric mixer until all the ingredients are combined and then add the milk bit by bit until all the milk is incorporated, continue mixing the frosting until it's light and fluffy.

Once your cupcakes are cooled spoon the mixture onto your cupcakes, I just used a spoon to spread the frosting evenly onto the cupcake but you can pipe it if you fancy I just find piping it puts a lot onto one cupcake but that's just my personal preference so feel free to pipe it if you like more frosting!

All that's left to do then is to take out your heart chocolates from the mould and then pop them onto your cupcakes and voila, there you go, cute lil Valentines cupcakes finished.

Essence Strengthening Nail Polish

If you read my 2017 Goals (here) you'll know one thing I wanted to change was to look after my nails a lot more, my nails are brittle af which is quite bad actually but I never used to mind but lately it's been bugging me, so, when I got an email through to see if I wanted to try out some nail products to help strengthen them I obviously jumped at the chance. I got sent 3 products from Essence which were Nail Caring OilColour and Care Strengthening Nail Polish and Professional 4in1 Nail File.

I've never used a nail file* in my entire life, seriously I just couldn't be bothered but I now realise why people actually do use them, they're clever little things aren't they? After using it my nails were no longer rugged and weird looking they were soft, smooth and actually looked pretty nice. FINALLY.

I really liked the nail oil* that came with this set, firstly it smells AMAZING. Like seriously so good, best smelling nail product I've ever come across, it smells of Apricots and made me want to eat it, I didn't, just FYI. This is to pop onto your nails to help nourish them and keep them looking healthy, what I will say is that it does take a while for the polish to sink into your nails but it did leave them feeling healthier and a bit more shiny.

Lastly was the strengthening nail polish*, it came in such a nice mint green shade, it went on really well and the colour pay off was quite good but definitely use 2 coats so it really pays off, however a downside to this one was with how quickly it actually chipped! I put it on in the evening and then next evening it was half off, which I was so gutted about because I was so hoping it was going to work to help strengthen them but it came off so quickly I wasn't sure how it would work, maybe it'd work in conjunction with a good no chip top coat.

Overall, to be honest my nails have grown more than they have before and I've actually not picked them or anything, they're still a bit brittle and peeling but I do think with continued use that these would work quite well, however I think to start off that maybe if your nails aren't TOO bad that these would keep them from peeling and going brittle but for me and my nails right now I think I need something a little bit stronger.

January Favourites

Hello everyone!

I literally cannot believe we're already into February, can it slow down? Please? I feel like I've blinked and it's gone by so quickly!

To start off my favourites I'll go with the only beauty product I have and that's a foundation which is the Rimmel Wake Me Up. I've been ditching my MAC Studio Fix lately because it's a matte finish and I've been suffering with dry skin lately so I decided to switch up and go for this one which I'm really liking at the moment it's so nice and gives a nice dewy finish.

You know I said I wanted to add more colour into my wardrobe? Well I went and bought myself a pink coat. Yep. It's the cutest thing ever and I love the colour of it, I saw it online and was like okay I think I'm getting that I think I could rock that and I ended up really loving it. It's in a puffer coat style which I've seen everywhere at the minute and I really wanted one because it takes me back to when I was younger and I had one, so cute and so cosy! (No picture of it because I forgot to include it but it's here!)

Okay I must admit I'm in a bit of a reading slump right now but at the beginning of Jan I started rereading Twilight and I was absolutely loving it, I haven't finished it yet though because I just haven't seemed to feel like I wanted to read but hopefully I will soon.

Next up is a TV show, I've become a bit obsessed with Dance Dance Dance. Anyone else watching it? I find it so entertaining watching celebs recreate famous dance routines, it's so good my faves are definitely Johnny and Chrissy!

Lastly is a games console. Yep. I went back to old school times and got myself a PlayStation, well I say I, I mean we, my sister and I did (itsthebluebow) I've been probably playing the play station more than I've been doing blogging or reading or literally anything else. Oops. I went and bought the Harry Potter games on there and I've literally become obsessed, it's just so much fun! Also did I mention we got it in pink?! SO CUTE.
